IMPACT People... Impacting Muang Thong Thani

In an ever-changing world, technological innovation has become the mainstream, driving businesses to transform. Spanning 3,454 rai (approximately 553 hectares), Wangchan Valley, located in Wang Chan District, Rayong Province, is designated as the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi) project, managed by PTT Public Company Limited in collaboration with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). The project has been designed to act as a key driver of Thai economic growth and technological advancement, reinforcing its role as a regional innovation hub.
Why Wangchan Valley?
Wangchan Valley serves as a leading model driving transformation within Thailand’s technology sector, and its successful business approach strongly resonates with Muang Thong Thani’s ethos of innovation and progress. Inspired by this model, on December 8, 2025, Bangkok Land Public Company Limited established a dedicated “Smart City” team, bringing together professionals from across departments and subsidiary companies to develop Muang Thong Thani into a top-tier technology hub.
Hailed as Thailand’s leading smart city, Wangchan Valley’s proven business approach enables IMPACT to learn, gather valuable insights, and adapt strategies to the context of its own smart city—strengthening the future development of Muang Thong Thani.
Upon arrival, Tanapong Boonleang, Project Manager of the Engineering Construction and Maintenance and Engineering and Construction Management Unit EECi, welcomed a group of smart city professionals from Muang Thong Thani, exchanged ideas, and openly shared some wins and losses with solutions. The trip proved worthwhile, providing in-depth insights that will help us adapt and enhance the existing smart city model.
A Fully Integrated Innovation City
Wangchan Valley has been developed as a Smart Natural Innovation Platform, with the vision of becoming Thailand’s most advanced innovation hub and the largest in the ASEAN region. This development is driven by a collaboration between PTT Public Company Limited and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA.)
The project is divided into three key zones:
- Education Zone
- Innovation Zone (Research and Innovation Development)
- Community Zone (Facilities, Residential Areas, and Recreation)
All areas are structured to serve as a smart city model, encompassing all seven dimensions of smart development:
- Smart Environment
- Smart Governance
- Smart Mobility
- Smart Energy
- Smart Economy
- Smart Living
- Smart People
Technology Enhancing Quality of Life
One of the highlights of the visit was the Intelligent Control and Command Center (CCC,) where Machine Learning technologies are applied to urban management. These include security systems across the Wangchan Valley project, intelligent CCTV systems, and real-time data analytics—ensuring that daily living, working, and learning environments are safe, efficient, and sustainable.
In addition, the Muang Thong Thani Smart City working team visited several key innovation facilities, including the GPSC Smart Energy Center, -, Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), and the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Testing Center. These visits demonstrated how innovation can be seamlessly integrated into real-life applications.
A Step towards the Future
This study visit marks another important step in preparing for the development of the Muang Thong Thani Smart City concept, ensuring alignment with the organization’s context and serving as a foundation for future planning.
This transformation will not be driven by a single team alone, but through learning, collaboration, and the collective strength of all employees.
Muang Thong Thani Smart City is not merely an organizational goal—it is a shared future that we will build together.
