Get to know Occupational Safety and Health Committee (OSH Committee) and its responsibilities
IMPACT regularly conducts safety assessments and training in various areas. These include providing safety knowledge through the "6-hour Occupational Safety Training" course for new employees, basic fire training, and annual fire drills and evacuation exercises.
Besides aligning with legal requirements, safety knowledge enhances the awareness of all employees, ensuring they remember and adhere to correct safety practices. To make safety operations systematic with clear policies, IMPACT has established the 'Occupational Safety and Health Committee (OSH Committee).' Today, we will introduce you to IMPACT's OSH Committee.
Who is the OSH Committee?
OSH Committee is a group of individuals responsible for driving workplace safety initiatives within the organization. The committee comprises representatives from both employees and employers.
Why do we need an OSH Committee?
Did you know that, by law, every workplace must have an "Occupational Safety and Health Committee"? For IMPACT, which is classified as a workplace with more than 500 employees, the law requires a committee of at least 11 members.
IMPACT has appointed a 15-member OSH Committee, which includes representatives from various departments, representing both employees and employers. This committee is tasked with driving the company's occupational safety policies. Committee members serve a 2-year term, and the current chairperson is Mr. Watchara Chantharasaopha, a senior management representative.
What are the responsibilities of the OSH Committee?
In addition to holding monthly safety meetings, the OSH Committee actively inspects the safety of the working areas around IMPACT. If an accident occurs, the committee investigates the cause to implement preventive measures, ensuring no recurrence. This practice aligns with the standards of the Security Management System for meeting, seminar, and exhibition organizations (TIS 22300).
