The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) Project:
Transforming Muang Thong Thani into a Smart City               

                "Muang Thong Thani is a bustling hub, with a daily influx of over 300,000 people. This number continues to climb, highlighting the area's ongoing growth."

               "What sets this area apart is its perfect mix of facilities. It's a complete ecosystem featuring residences, office towers, shopping venues, commercial zones, a university, hotels, and the IMPACT Muang Thong Thani Exhibition and Convention Center—all harmoniously brought together."

When the number of people traveling in the area continues to grow, in order to accommodate that growth and make Muang Thong Thani a "livable city for everyone," it is essential to use technology to develop the city in all dimensions, whether it is in terms of safety, environmental management, and upgrading residential areas to be better.

"The city's management is proactively developing the area, with key initiatives focused on enhancing safety, managing the environment, upgrading infrastructure, and improving the quality of life for the community."

Mr. Thanarat Khemphet, Senior Manager of City Management Department at IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., said that the company has moved forward with the development of various projects to make Muang Thong Thani a livable city for everyone, such as

• Flood Prevention and Management
  We have added water retention ponds and installed pumps at the C7 curve. These measures help to increase drainage efficiency and reduce localized flooding in the area.
  

• Improving Traffic Flow at Saint Francis Xavier School
  To tackle traffic congestion, we have partnered with Saint Francis Xavier School and the Pak Kret Police Station. Together, we've adjusted traffic routes and improved sidewalks and crosswalks to ease the gridlock. We are also continuously evaluating these changes and exploring additional solutions to keep traffic moving smoothly.

• Enhancing Community Safety
  To boost community safety, we have launched a 24-hour patrol service using both cars and motorcycles. In addition, we are collaborating with community leaders and building management to promote the use of wheel and disc locks to deter motorcycle theft.

• Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) Project
  This project is another key initiative, aimed at enhancing safety and improving traffic efficiency through the development of an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS).
  

  Phase 1 was completed from March to August, with the installation of 41 CCTV-AI cameras at 18 key locations. These include:

  • IF Intersection
  • IMPACT Roundabout
  • Kasikornbank Headquarters Intersection

  Phase 2 is now underway, with the goal of installing a total of 100 cameras.

 The main advantage of this system is its ability to spot accidents and unusual events and alert authorities in real time. It also analyzes traffic flow to dynamically adjust signal lights for maximum efficiency. Looking ahead, we will be deploying LED traffic signs to give drivers all the information they need, from available parking to important announcements, exactly when they need it.

Future plans include establishing a central ITMS Control and Processing Center to support real-time traffic data analysis software. Additionally, there will be improvements to road surfaces and new road markings, as well as reorganizing parking on main roads to reduce double-parking and alleviate traffic congestion.

Every project reflects our commitment to creating a safer, more convenient, and more livable environment. Our goal is to make Muang Thong Thani a true "city within a city" that grows sustainably while becoming a genuinely livable place for everyone.
