Exclusive interview with Khun Paul in THE INSIDER - The Insider
If you mention “IMPACT Muang Thong Thani”, or simply “IMPACT”, different people will have different images in mind. Some may think of it as a concert venue, while others associate it with major events like the Motor Expo and Motor Show. However, IMPACT is much more than what most people think.
IMPACT has been around for almost 30 years, growing alongside numerous events such as the Moto Expo, Motor Show, Money Expo, and the Baan Lae Suan Fair. Many of these events originated from traditional media, such as magazines. However, with the evolving media landscape, where content creators play a more significant role, IMPACT has adapted by transforming into “IMPACT NEXT”—a platform designed to accommodate both traditional media events and independent creator-driven events.
The idea is that no matter what form of content creation someone is involved in, it ultimately remains a one-way communication. At some point, the audience and sponsors of these creators will need an opportunity to meet in person, leading to the need for events. These events not only facilitate interactions but also provide an opportunity to showcase new innovations and, most importantly, create memorable experiences.
However, organizing an event involves countless details, making it challenging for an individual creator or a small team to handle everything alone. But with over 20 years of experience, IMPACT provides professional event management services, allowing creators to focus solely on their vision without worrying about logistics.
One prominent example of a content creator-turned-event organizer is Tor Thanapong Wongchinshri, also known as “Tor Penguin,” the owner of Penguin Eat Shabu. He transitioned into event organization with Restech (Restaurant Technology Expo), which debuted in 2023. IMPACT supported the event in multiple aspects, attracting tens of thousands of attendees in its first year.
In the near future, IMPACT is set to undergo a major transformation by connecting directly to the Pink Line mass transit system, with a dedicated station inside the venue. This marks IMPACT’s official integration into Bangkok’s mass transit network. Additionally, IMPACT is expanding its hotel accommodations to meet rising demands. Large-scale international events require up to 2,000 hotel rooms, and in the long term, IMPACT aims to provide up to 5,000 rooms.
While many new event venues have emerged, giving organizers more choices, Paul Kanjanapas, CEO of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., believes that the biggest competitor is IMPACT itself. If they consistently provide exceptional service to clients, even with new venues entering the market, customers will always return to IMPACT if their events are successful.
Lastly, Paul shares a key business principle: “No matter what business you are in, always remember the concept of Win-Win.” This applies both internally and externally—employees must receive proper benefits and fair treatment for the responsibilities they handle. A company can only grow if its foundation is strong.
